T Dilip set to return as India fielding coach

T Dilip is set to return as India's fielding coach, having been granted a one-year extension by the BCCI. This decision comes after an initial move to part ways with him following the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The BCCI had considered a leaner support staff under Gautam Gambhir's leadership, leading to the departure of several coaches, including Dilip and batting coach Abhishek Nayar.
However, Rohit Sharma, despite retiring from Test cricket, personally advocated for Dilip's reinstatement. His request influenced the BCCI and Gambhir to retain Dilip, recognizing his significant contributions to India's fielding standards.
Dilip, known for his methodical approach and emphasis on game-specific drills, has been instrumental in enhancing India's fielding prowess. His return is seen as a stabilizing factor amid the team's ongoing transition, especially with the upcoming five-match Test series in England.
The Indian team, including the India A squad, has begun preparations for the England tour. Most players have arrived in Kent, with Akash Deep expected to join soon. The first unofficial Test against England Lions is scheduled from May 30 to June 2 in Canterbury, while the main Test squad will depart from Mumbai on June 6.
